Ayurveda Pure (Panchakarma)

Pure is designed for guests looking for an intensive and authentic Ayurvedic experience. The Panchakarma is a cleansing and rejuvenating programme that can be customised to meet your health needs.

The minimum recommended stay for Ayurveda Pure is two weeks. This ensures the body has time to regenerate after a period of intense detoxification. Pure guests receive personalised Ayurvedic consultations, 5 treatments a day, Ayurvedic food and supplements, as well as daily Yoga and meditation.

Healthy guests can improve their general well-being and bring their body, mind and soul back into balance. For guests suffering from health problems, a Panchakarma treatment can help relieve symptoms. Please bring your current medical report, laboratory results and any information you would like to discuss with the Ayurveda physician.

During the first phase of Panchakarma, toxins in the body are loosened through the application of oil massages, induced sweating, herbal baths and diet. In the second phase, the toxins are removed. We offer three methods of elimination: Vasti (use of medicinal enemas); Virechano (use of laxatives); Nasyam (use of oils to clear the nasal and sinus cavities). In the third and final phase, the body is strengthened and rejuvenated.

Ayurveda Spirit

I like the best of both worlds

Spirit is perfect for guests wanting to combine Ayurvedic treatments with sightseeing during their holiday. Like Pure, our Ayurverda physician will determine your dosha (Ayurveda-type) before starting a personalised treatment programme. Spirit offers guests an Ayurvedic experience, without the intense detoxification process of Pure.

The minimum recommended stay for Ayurveda Spirit is 6 nights. This ensures that guests can improve their general well-being as well as experience the diversity of Ayurvedic treatments. Spirit guests receive personalised Ayurvedic consultations, 3 to 4 treatments a day, a complimentary Yoga or meditation session for every 2 nights booked, and Ayurvedic food as well as European options.

Local sightseeing attractions include a boat safari on the Madu River, Temple of the Sleeping Buddha, a turtle sanctuary, the Bawa Garden, Ambalangoda mask museum and market, a moonstone mine, and a batik factory. Spirit guests can select a complimentary, private excursion for every 3 nights booked.

Guests suffering from health problems are welcome to bring a current medical report, laboratory results and any additional information to discuss with the Ayurveda physician.

Ayurveda Sceptic

Sceptic is perfect for guests who are unconvinced about Ayurveda but are travelling with Ayurveda aficionados or the Ayurveda-curious.

Sceptics enjoy 1 to 2 massages a day, and delicious Ayurvedic cuisine as well as European options. The minimum recommended stay is 3 nights to ensure that even sceptical guests leave Amba feeling relaxed and revived.

Spirit guests can select a complimentary, private excursion for every 2 nights booked. How does catching a fish along the Madu River and learning to cook it Sri Lankan-style sound? Other excursions include Temple of the Sleeping Buddha, a turtle sanctuary, the Bawa Garden, Ambalangoda mask museum and market, a moonstone mine, and a batik factory.

Guests can take a dip in our salt-water pool and then stroll along the beach at sunset.

The Amba kitchen uses locally sourced, fresh produce. Ayurvedic cuisine is customised according to the doshas (Ayurveda-type) and features an exquisite range of vegetables, tropical fruit and mainly vegetarian dishes.

At Amba, we make the ancient healing principles of Ayurvedic cuisine deliciously accessible. Guests are welcome to ask questions, to explore ingredients and for the adventurous, to participate in the cooking process. Cooking classes can also be arranged.

Complimentary teas, customized to your individual needs are available throughout the day.

Please note that dishes are adjusted to suit individual health requirements and personal goals, such as weight loss. European dishes are also available.

Breakfast is served daily from 7.30 – 10.00.
