Set amidst the palm fringed jungle and tea plantations of southern Sri Lanka, Kahanda Kanda is a hidden gem where culture, wellness and luxury combine. Our boutique hotel in Sri Lanka offers 10 individually designed villas (3 with private pools) to relax and unwind, just a short tuk-tuk ride from the UNESCO world heritage site Galle Fort.

Villas are inspired by local culture, featuring elegant art and antiques within each of the spacious rooms and gardens – a sanctuary where guests can indulge in serenity, privacy and personalised five-star service. KK is fifteen minutes inland from the south coast of Sri Lanka, so ideal for exploring the nearby beaches or visiting Galle Fort or some of the many other activities available. Or you could just lie by the pool and read a book – the choice is yours!

Experience luxury and relaxation in our collection of uniquely designed suites spread throughout the grounds of our romantic resort in Galle. Each bedroom suite is in a stand-alone building, except for the Garden and Tea Suites, thus ensuring maximum privacy and peaceful surroundings for guests. Decorated in a different style, all of our villas near Galle Fort are filled with an eclectic and individual mélange of antiques as well as more contemporary pieces – sourced locally and from all over the world. As part of our Responsible Tourism policy, all suites have solar power heating for the hot water, we re-cycle our waste and we ask that you also act responsibly towards the planet we inhabit.

Situated a little way from the main part of the hotel, the Hellaconia Suite is approached via an old Jaffna door set into a wall. The suite is in a most luxuriant garden setting.

Tamarind

Filled with blue and white antique porcelain, this suite has a King Size wrought iron Four Poster Bed and a large verandah overlooking the Tea Estate.

Mango

Like the Tamarind Suite, this is a bird watcher’s paradise, with its wide verandah as a vantage point. This bedroom has a King size Four Poster bed made from teak.

Twin Beds

Sharing its verandah with the Garden Suite, this suite has a pair of Antique Colonial style Single Size Four Poster Beds which can be converted into a King size double bed.

Indulge your taste buds with fine food that is fresh, delicious and healthy at Kahanda Kanda. We use only fruits, vegetables and herbs grown on the estate, supplemented with a selection of the freshest local produce to create simple, fusion dishes and classic Sri Lankan curries to pamper our guests’ palates with good health. Two of the three resident chefs have trained in Thailand, and offer a mouth-watering range of Thai dishes.

As important as the food itself, mealtimes are entirely at your discretion. At breakfast we offer a selection of local specialities as well as Western dishes. Lunch can be three courses, or you can choose from our Snack Menu. Dinner is a gourmet affair and if you would like a romantic dinner, may I suggest we set up a table in the garden for supper under the stars?

For those who are hell-bent on losing weight, we offer a calorie-counted series of menus, but we do not enforce this on everyone!

We are pleased to offer Cookery Classes for our guests wishing to learn the secrets of Sri Lankan or Thai cuisine.

The Dining Pavilion is open to non-residents – we just ask that you call to make a reservation.

Dining

For some of the best food in the area, you can enjoy a wide selection of Western and Thai cuisine, as well as a Sri Lankan rice and curry dinner.

Living

This bright airy Living Pavilion is a great place to laze during the day, stretched out on the wide banquette reading your book, or simply enjoying the tropical scenery. In the evening there is a plethora of candles, soft music and a great cocktail list.

Swimming Pool

The pool at KK is 20 meters long, with an infinity edge overlooking Koggala Lake – a great way to work off those extra pounds you have been wanting to shed.

Exercise & Home Cinema

With stunning views over the tea estate, there is a range of gym equipment and weights for those who want to work out, with or without a trainer. The room is also our home cinema, with an extensive range of DVDs and Satellite TV.

Garden

The garden is an abundance of tropical flowers, as well as mango trees and teeming with birdlife and wildlife – all to be explored at your leisure.

Spa

At KK we have a wonderful Spa Building, nestled in amongst the tea plantation, with a view to die for. There is a resident male therapist, who will give you a relaxing body massage, using only the finest scented oils.

Cookery Class

Want to discover the secrets of Sri Lankan rice and curry? We offer customized classes for our guests, where you can learn how to prepare a variety of dishes, and you chose what dishes – either Sri Lankan, Thai or Western cuisine.

Private dining

For that unique experience we offer dinner in the garden in our romantic dining tent, lined with billowing curtains and decorated with masses of flowers. The ultimate candle-lit dining experience

Yoga

During the season, there is a yoga class every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8am with Deshara – a great way to start the day with some stretching, yoga and ending up with some meditation and relaxation. The class is for 60 minutes and is suitable for all levels. In addition, we can organise Deshara to come and give you a private lesson, if you would prefer.
