From a 17 th Century townhouse in the legendary Galle Fort to traditional tea planters bungalows high up in the hills, the Teardrop collection of beautifully renovated, historic properties are sewn together by three founding principles ; Genuine Sri Lankan hospitality; Fabulous Sri Lankan and Asian fusion cuisine using locally sourced fresh ingredients (much of which we grow ourselves) ; and experiences that put our guests face to face with the warm and colorful sights and sounds of the teardrop island.

Fabulous Food

Church Street Social is Galle Fort’s most vibrant wining and dining venue, attracting both in-house guests and walk-ins with a convivial, buzzy vibe. The contemporary design-led setting, infused with classic twists to reflect the history of the locale and its Arabic influencers, is reflected in our gourmet dishes, which feature elements of traditional Moroccan, Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Our menus include tapas for savouring dishes convivially amongst friends, and rustic family-style sharing platters of quality imported cold meats, charcuterie, cheese, homemade pickles, pâtés and dips. Asian fusion flavours featuring fresh fish and contemporary versions of Sri Lanka’s traditional cuisine also feature highly, including black pork curry and lagoon crab salad.

Facilities

Galle is one of the island’s great mini destinations, with a wealth of experiences and attractions to enjoy within a relatively small area. Right on your doorstep is Galle Fort, whose treasure trove of colonial antiquities, shops and cafes are all easily explored on foot, either with an informative local guide or on your own. We can help you enrich your fort experience with a gem session hosted by one of the fort’s foremost jewellers or a mask-making workshop with a local craftsman.

There are numerous beaches nearby, including the surfing hotspots of Midigama and Weligama, while whale watching cruises embark from picturesque Mirissa. Exploring Galle’s verdant inland hinterland rewards with glimpses of rural villages, oceans of paddy fields and temples, and is best enjoyed on a guided bicycle ride or you could savour the serenity with a jungle yoga class. Close to Koggala Lake is a lowland tea plantation, which offers absorbing estate tours.
