Maniyumpathi – Colombo

Maniumpathy is a stately house, which has been home to five generations of a family originating in Jaffna. During its history spanning over a century, it has evolved at the hands of the different members of the family who have lived there. It most recent owners have renovated it and transformed it into a boutique hotel, with the intention of immersing its guests in an atmosphere reminiscent of the moods and pursuits of the people who have lived within its walls in those times past. As such it is an opportunity for the curious visitor to relive these experiences, enjoying a unique perspective of past Sri Lankan culture.

The colonial structure that existed has been added over time to give the unique character of the house today. Each room is named after a woman from a different generation of the family.

Annapuranie Suite

This is the Master Suite named after Annapuranie (1865-1920), the grand matriarch of the family, this is a luxurious ground floor suite that consists of a private lounge that can double as an extra double bedroom, a king size ebony canopy bed, changing room, grand bathroom with a bath & shower, and a private garden sit out.

 

Chrysanthie Suite

This is the family suite and was in fact Dr. Saravamuttu Hallocks surgery at one time. It consists of ground level luxurious suite with a colonial king size bed and a mezzanine floor that doubles as lounge or extra double bed space and a bath room with shower

 

Cynthia Suite & Ranee Suite

These are two Superior upper floor suites with generous balconies overlooking the central courtyard and the pool. They consist of four poster beds and spacious bathrooms that include his and hers wash basins, bath tub and shower.

 

Vasanthi Suite & Anithra Suite

These are two Superior ground floor suites with secret gardens to the rear of the property. They consist of colonial king size beds and spacious bathrooms that include his and hers wash basins, bath tubs and showers.

Soundhari Suite & Poornam Suites

(32m2ea) These are the Deluxe suites but are the fairest of them all consisting of queen size four poster beds and Jaffna styled courtyard bathrooms with showers

The Nandi

The Nandi Terrace Restaurant can accommodate up to 30 guests and is set in the courtyard of the house overlooking the pool and serves a selection of international cuisine and local fare with a hint of Jaffna flavours.

The Grand Ebony Room

Treat yourself and your guests to a remarkable dining experience with the grandeur of a 16-seater ebony table, dimly lit antique chandeliers, crystal candelabra and the finest crockery and cutlery. Ideal for private entertainment or small corporate events.
