Rooms

Mandira is comprised of 3 colonial style tea planters’ Bungalows that cater to all necessities of our guests. Each room is tastefully crafted with Egyptian cotton luxury linen, hand-picked accessories and exquisite paintings. All rooms have a view of either the tailored gardens or the evergreen tea estates. We welcome children of all ages and are well-equipped with baby cots and extra beds. All rooms come with attached baths with luxurious toiletries.

STRATHDON BUNGALOW

Be swayed by the charms of 19th Century’s Strathdon Bungalow. Four cozy bedrooms are gracefully designed to take you back in time. These rooms are fully furnished independent lounge & have spacious living room.

DICK OYA BUNGALOW

Four lavish bedrooms, a quaint living room, an elegantly designed period style dining room complete this colonial-era bungalow and a lounge that is ideal for relaxing and swiping through some channels or watch a movie or two.

CRAIG APPIN BUNGALOW

Be teleported to another era where three antique bedrooms and a luxurious suite complete with modern features. Relish peace in the cozy lounge. The authentic decor of the dining room will give you remarkable dining experience.

Perfect for group dining, each Bungalow boasts a classy dining room wherein our skilled Chefs would satiate even the most sophisticated culinary desire. Let them consult you each morning to craft a meal that will leave you craving for more.

Everything is freshly prepared with local produce. Our most popular dishes being traditional Sri Lankan cuisine cooked with love and passion by our local chefs offer our guest a truly authentic experience of Sri Lanka. Guests have the option of enjoying a cooking class with our chefs on how to prepare the perfect Sri Lankan cuisines; this provision has made us a favorite among travelers as they get insights into the realm of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine.

IN-ROOM FACILITIES

Each room is equipped with a chic coffee/tea maker so that your mornings are complete with an aromatic beverage. Electronic safety lockers are in place to safeguard your essentials, a comfortable writing table to enjoy some quite mornings with amazing views of the tea plantations, complimentary Wi-Fi in each of the rooms and throughout the bungalow are available for guest to use so that you don’t miss out on important messages or mails. Flat screen TV with satellite channels with the option of additional channels that can be added on depending on guest’s request. Guests are welcomed with a Strawberry platter which is freshly grown in the hill country, complimentary bottled water in the room. Our facilities are inclusive of shoe shining facility on request and laundry service at a nominal cost. Linens are replaced daily on request keeping with our environmental policies.

BATHROOMS

Each of the rooms in the bungalows has an attached bathroom with all modern fittings and accessories. These include Hot & cold water, some bathrooms with walk-in showers and some with bath tubs, complimentary toiletries, bath robes, bath slippers and hire dryers on request. Heated towel railings ensure that you have warm towels at all times.

BUNGALOW FACILITIES

Each of the bungalows consist of living area and an independent lounge area, formal dining space, fully equipped kitchenette and patios. Common areas with various recreational options are available for kids. Round-the-clock laundry service is also offered.

WINE & DINE

We offer a variety of dining options, our guests can enjoy the luxury of private dining within the bungalow, breakfast is usually served outdoors because the first meal of the day should be enhanced by morning sunshine and misty mountains, lunch can be in-room dining or amidst the picturesque scenery, whatever suits our discerning guests. All meals are prepared based on guest preferences and our local chefs ensure that they take our guests on a memorable culinary journey with authentic Sri Lankan dishes.

Zinc Journey – Mandira bungalows offer some great activities for the active and adventurous travelers. Especially for family with children there are plenty to keep the kids active and busy throughout your stay. Our in-house guides will accompany you on these trips if you wish or if you prefer to discover the area on your own, we can direct you to the right roads and locations to explore the area.

Train Journey in a 2nd class compartment free seating basis. Train journey approx. 30 – 45 min and is subject to availability of local operator.

TRAIN RIDES

One of the highlights of a trip to Sri Lanka’s hill country is a train ride through the tea plantations, mountains and waterfalls. One can take a train ride up to the bungalow if you wish when coming from your previous destination or you can do a train ride to a nearby location like Nuwara Eliya, Kandy or even Ella during your stay with us. Tickets need to be pre-booked so this is best planned ahead. This train ride is solely recommended for the experience only and not really as a mode of transport from one location to the other due regular train delays.

TREKKING TOURS

For the more adventurous travelers we have two mapped out treks through the hill country from each of the bungalows. One is an easy one and is around 5 Km while the longer one is up to 12Km with some steep climbing. These treks are best done with our guides to ensure you know the way back.
